A note on the sizes: When you hear the term 3x2", it refers to the height of the capital letters on each name (3" each) and the lower case (2" each) in the name itself.  This is the size that is put on the back of varsity jackets and letterman jackets.  When you hear the term 2x1", it refers to the height of the capital letters on each name (2" each) and lower case (2" each) in the name itself.  This is normally placed on the sleeve or above the pocket of a varsity jacket.
